Learn how to connect characters, define their relationships, and track how those connections affect your story.
1. Open a Character Profile
Open the profile of the character you want to create a relationship for. From the left sidebar, click Relations , then in the upper right corner of the window click on Add Relation.
Tip: Start from the character whose perspective matters most.
2. Add a Relationship
Inside the character profile, click Relationships, then click Add Relationship in the upper-right corner.
The Add relationship window will open.
Tip: Add relationships as you introduce important character connections.
3. Choose Characters
Under Characters, select the Target character you want to connect with.
The character whose profile you opened will appear on the left, and the selected character will appear on the right.
For example: Eli Calder → Elena Voss
Tip: Check the direction of the relationship before saving.
4. Define & Rate the Relationship
Enter a short Relation Type, such as Rival, Friend, Mentor, or Sibling. Use Description to explain the connection.
Then use the Intensity slider to rate the relationship from 1–10 based on how strong or important it is.

Tip: Keep the type short, describe the why, and adjust intensity as the story changes.
5. Add Advanced Details
Turn on Mutual relationship when the same relationship applies in both directions. WriteO will automatically create the reverse connection.
Under Advanced Settings, you can also set Visibility, add Secret Notes, and describe the Motivation Impact of the relationship.

Quick Tip
Keep relationships updated as your story develops. A friendship can become a rivalry, a stranger can become an ally, and a weak connection can become one of the most important relationships in your story.
